ABSTRACT

Purpose@#Tumor regression grade (TRG) has been widely used in gastrointestinal carcinoma to assess pathological responses to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT). There are various standards without a consensus, and it is still unclear which kind of system has better predictive value. This study aims to investigate and compare the predictive ability of the Mandard and Becker TRGs in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer. @*Materials and Methods@#A total of 290 patients with locally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma who underwent NCT and curative surgery were studied. Survival analysis for overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were based on the Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazards method. Predictive values of TRGs and models were assessed by time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the area under the ROC curve (AUC), nomogram, and calibration curve. @*Results@#In multivariable analysis, the Mandard TRG was associated with OS (hazard ratio [HR], 1.806; p=0.026) and DFS (HR, 1.792; p=0.017). The Becker TRG was also related to OS (HR, 1.880; p=0.014) and DFS (HR, 1.919; p=0.006). The Mandard and Becker TRG AUCs for 5-year survival were 0.72 and 0.71, respectively. The whole models showed an increased predictive value, with AUCs of 0.85 and 0.86, respectively. There was no significant difference between the two TRGs and two models. @*Conclusion@#TRG was an independent predictor for survival, and there was no significant difference between these two systems.

ABSTRACT

Aim To examine the influence of tetramethylpyrazine on learning and memory function of hypoxic hypoxia rats, and the expression of gamma aminobutyric acid(GABA) receptor and forkhead box P2(FOXP2) in hippocampus of rats. Methods A total of 120 Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into low hypoxic hypoxia and high hypoxic hypoxia groups, then according to different time points every group was divided into 1 d, 3 d, 7 d 15 d, 30 d group, with 12 rats per each group.Experiment group and the control group were treated with tetramethylpyrazine and 0.9% normal saline, respectively. The hypoxic hypoxia environment was achieved by putting the rats in a hypobaric chamber at a simulated altitude of 5 500 meters for different days. The capabilities of learning and memory of rats were detected by Morris water maze test. The expression of GABA receptor and FOXP2 protein in hippocampus of rat was determined by Western blot. Results ① Morris water maze test showed that the total distance of rats in the simulated hypobaric hypoxia control group was longer than that in the tetramethylpyrazine group(P0.05);however,GABAB1 receptor and FOXP2 protein rose from the third day(P<0.05).The expression of GABAAα1 receptor and FOXP2 protein expression were correlated to total distance of Morris water maze in the control group(r=-0.738, P<0.05;r=-0.693, P<0.05), and the expression of GABAB1 receptor was correlated with FOXP2 protein level(r=0.834, P<0.05).Conclusion The simulated high-altitude hypobaric hypoxia can decrease the learning and memory abilities of rats, which may be ameliorated by tetramethylpyrazine intervention, and this effect might be related to the increase of GABAB1R receptor and FOXP2 expression in hippocampus of rats.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the status of self-efficacy and its influencing factors in adult patients with low vision, then explore an effective approach to improve their self-efficacy levels. Methods Seventy adult patients with low vision were sampled by random number table method.General social-demographic questionnaire and self-efficacy questionnaire were used to investigate these patients' general information and self-efficacy.Seventy pieces of questionnaires were issued and returned with the valid rate of 100%.Results The total score of self-efficacy in seventy adult patients with low vision was(16.25:±:1.93) points,92% of patients had a low level of self-efficacy.The influencing factors of self-efficacy in adult patients with low vision were the attitude toward disease, mental status and gender. Conclusions The selfefficacy in patients with low vision was affected by many factors at different levels,so we should focus on main influencing factors to adopt corresponding nursing measures in order to improve self-efficacy of adult patients with low vision.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo discuss the sonographic features of the urogential system in AIDS patients.MethodsThe positive sonographic lesions of urogenital systems of 336 AIDS patiens were analyzed retrospectively, with some compared with the results of aspiration biopsy, lab tests and clinical observation and treatment.ResultsThe ultrasonographic features of the pathological changes of the urogenital systems in AIDS patients were relative infectious diseases and relative tumors, which were respectively renal enlargement in 157 cases (46.73%),diffuse renal parenchymal disease in 129 cases (38.39%),urogential single infections in 125 cases (37.20%),and urogential cancer in 17 cases (5.06%).All of the above symptoms often developed in the same patient.ConclusionsThe ultrasonography of the lesions of the urogenital systems in AIDS patients are valuable documents for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the effects of P53, PCNA, Bcl-2 protein and their relationship in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma(SACC). Methods These proteins were examined by immunohistochemistry. Results Overexpressions of P53 and PCNA were revealed in ACC samples, they were higher than those in (polymorphous adenomas) PA, but expression of Bcl-2 protein was not different between ACC and PA. In 3 subtypes of ACC, expressions of 3 proteins were different. Conclusion Mutations of P53, Bcl-2 may be involed in the occurrence of SACC, expression of PCNA and mutation of P53 may coexist in the development of the SACC.
